Part 2 – Himax Custom Battery Solution for Toy Quadcopters
To solve these issues, Himax Electronics developed a customized single-cell LiPo pack specifically optimized for toy quadcopters. A typical configuration includes 3.7V (1S) 500mAh, 25C discharge, with a plastic-sleeved plug-in structure suitable for small toy drones. First, we integrated a protection circuit (BMS) to guard against overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuits, reducing risks in daily family use. Then, we co-designed mechanical dimensions and connector orientation with the client, ensuring children can replace batteries easily while minimizing incorrect insertion. The pack was tested for UN38.3 transportation safety, cycle life and swelling performance under typical charge-and-play patterns, and compliance with major toy market standards. Himax also supplied clear handling and charging guidelines for the client’s user manuals.
